Orange Award

In 2004, Orange originated the Award for the promotion of intercultural dialogue under the auspices of UNICEF Switzerland. The award was endowed with the aim of implementing and expanding projects in Switzerland for the promotion of tolerance and dialogue. A study on cultural integration by UNICEF Switzerland had shown that the advancement of the intercultural dialogue with children and adolescents in Switzerland would require special incentives. Since then, the Orange Award has inspired the realisation of many successful projects in aid of cultural understanding.

winning projects

2010:
The "Schenk mir eine Geschichte - Family Literacy" project of the Swiss Institute for Child and Youth Media supports both parents as well as their bilingually raised children between ages 2 and 6. Various experiences with books and stories in the native language of their parents as well as in the language of their environment are not only fun for the children but also motivate them to read and learn how to write. The earliest possible targeted encouragement of children is an important foundation for their success in school later on. Parental involvement in their children's education will help reach non-academically inclined parents who speak a foreign language and support them in their integration.

2008:
'artlink' and 'Mus-E Schweiz' for their project 'Kunst in der Schule gegen Rassismus' in Olten which fosters discussion of racism with the means of art.

2006:
"Unsere Klasse spricht viele Sprachen", a podcast game from the Zurich organisation klipp & klang radiokurse. 2nd winner: 'Intégration: Jeux et Enjeux" project by the Théâtre pour Enfants in Lausanne.

2005:
The beraber organisation based in Basle, a group of young students who provide a tutoring service for young people of foreign origin. 2nd and 3rd winner: 'BaBeLKids' promoting child-friendly development and 'Seitenwechsel', a project to support joint activities of children from a range of cultural and social backgrounds.

2004:
'Ideenbüro' in the Leubringen/Evilard School in Biel. In the 'Ideenbüro' ('Office of Ideas'), children advise other children, acquire skills and learn to pass them on. Following the Biel example, 14 more schools have set up 'Ideenbüros' and six others are planning to establish offices of that kind.

20 years of the UN's child rights convention (2009)

To celebrate 20 years of the UN Child Rights Convention, UNICEF is organising an ideas contest on the subject of children's rights. We're looking for campaign ideas that will move and inspire the public and put children's rights at the top of the agenda.

Orange is supporting this project as part of our long-standing partnership with UNICEF. We invite you to take part in this contest.

You can present your creative ideas on www.jovoto.com or review others on www.facebook.com/unicefcontest.
