Orange takes over as 4G market leader and launches further service excellence initiatives; solid quarterly results
title“As an operator focussing on service excellence, it is our job to simplify technology and make it human again. This is why we have decided to offer 4G to all our customers – new and existing alike – at no extra cost and irrespective of whether they have a subscription. We are the first to launch 4G services that everyone can afford. Orange is the first to offer 4G services to PrePay customers as well. Although 4G is actually just a very fast technology, we are very excited about the wide range of new possibilities it can open up for our customers. To make sure everyone can enjoy it as quickly as possible, we plan to achieve 71% population coverage by the end of the year. Given that we were able to launch 4G ahead of schedule, I am convinced that we can also reach this year-end target. In my view, offering our 4G network to all customers and pushing ahead with the rapid expansion of 4G coverage for everyone makes us the market leader in 4G in Switzerland. And we will keep on fighting for this position,” said Orange CEO Johan Andsjö. Orange has launched its 4G network in record time and ahead of schedule. Orange 4G offers download speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s (the theoretical maximum speed), and the company plans to upgrade this step-by-step to 150 Mbit/s.
