information about the use of our site

In order to regularly improve our site and adapt it to your needs we are required to collect some information such as the overall usage of our site, which sections of it are the most often - accessed to, what is the connection time and the average connection time.

To obtain this information we make use of the following technical means:

  • IP address

An IP address (Internet Protocol) is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you surf the Net. The servers managing the homepages are able to identify your computer through this number.

This allows us to obtain detailed reports on the accesses to the site per IP address. However, we don't make any link between the IP address and the collected personal data.

  • Cookies

Cookies are bits of elements of information that a web site can send to a visitor's hard drive. The cookies allow you to surf with more efficiency by saving your preferences whilst being connected to a site.

It is important that you are aware of the following:

Your passwords and/or numbers of credit cards are NEVER stored in the cookies.
Most web browsers are initially configured to accept cookies. You can change your browser settings to prevent or notify you whenever you are sent a cookie but disabling cookies may result in difficulties to access some parts of our site.
Third party companies advertising on our site may also send cookies to your hard drive. The sending of advertising cookies by third parties' servers is a widespread process in the Net on which we have no control.

online advertising

When delivering banners, buttons, pop-up windows or similar ad formats on our site, no personal user data such as name, address, phone number or email address is collected.

Our service provider temporarily stores anonymous user data only (operating system, browser version, etc.) and whether the user responded (clicks) to the delivered ad. The anonymous data is only used in aggregated form to deliver targeted advertisements.

Our service provider ensures that usage data or usage profiles will not be associated with personal data or that online user profiles are combined with possible offline address data.

Our service provider only uses cookies in order to optimize the delivery of ads to the user. In these cases the frequency of ads delivered to a unique user/URL can be capped and therefore the quality of advertising increased.

direct marketing

We use email and direct mail as a way of keeping you up-to-date about the innovations of our products, services and offers that may be of interest to you (e.g. new services or content features). These communications may also offer special incentives that we hope will prompt you to try something new at our site.

Nonetheless, we maintain a practice of permitting persons to be excluded from such communications but you will not be dropped from receiving functional (such as site enhancements, scheduled downtime), commercial (such as modification of existing products and services, modification of prices) or legal notifications (such as disclaimers).

third party links

Whilst connected to our site you may be re-routed to third parties' web sites that are out of our control. These linked sites are only for your convenience and you therefore access them at your own risk.

Your children can access some of the free services of our site (Weather, Horoscope, e-mail, Internet Access). You are responsible to put in place means to control and/or limit the types of sites that your children under age can access. Orange cannot be held liable for access by them to sites which should not be accessed by under age persons.

security

Personal data security is a major concern of Orange. However, although we seek to protect your personal data with industry standard security measures we cannot guarantee that loss, misuse or alteration of data will not occur.

As soon as you are registered, you can only access Orangeworld with your user name and password. Your password is always encrypted when transmitted through the Net. We strongly recommend that you keep your user name and password secret.

If we have any reason to believe that there is likely to be a breach of security or misuse of the Orangeworld services we may change your user name, passwords or any other identification codes and notify you accordingly.
