The file is a complete software update for the HTC Touch Diamond (French and German versions). The main areas of improvement are:

It is not critical to install this software, but Orange recommends that you do so to get a better usage experience.
how do I know if my device is up to date?

Go to 'Start' --> 'Settings' --> 'System' --> 'Device Information'
in French: 'Démarrer' --> 'Paramètres' --> 'Système' --> 'Informations de l'appareil'
in German: 'Start' --> 'Einstellungen' --> 'System' --> 'Geräteinnformation' - if the field 'ROM version' is lower than 1.93.71.1, your device is not up to date.

NB: do not use any other file. This build is specifically for Orange CH customers.
installation procedure
Important: The software update will erase all of your personal data. If you want to keep it, it is essential to synchronise your data (contacts, appointments, tasks, email, pictures) via ActiveSync (available on your companion CD).
- Download the software update file above (French or German version - 117 MB) and save it on your PC (on the desktop for example).
- Once downloaded, connect your HTC Touch Diamond using the USB cable and ActiveSync, then double click on the file to start the installation.
- Follow the on-screen instruction until the end of the update process. Please note: it can take up to 25 minutes to update your phone. Do NOT disconnect your phone during the update.
- Once the ROM update is complete, your phone will restart automatically. Disconnect the USB cable and let the phone start. This can take a few minutes. Follow the instructions on the phone screen.
