before you go
Can I use my phone abroad?
Your dualband mobile phone (900 & 1800 MHz) enables you to roam on all networks in Europe,
Africa, Australia and Asia wherever we have roaming agreements. If you plan to go to North or
South America or to some areas in Asia, do not forget to check the compatibility of your mobile
phone as some countries operate a 1900MHz (triband) or a specific (CDMA, NEXTEL) network.
More
information can be found under each operator.
Click on the country you intend to visit from the Zone drop down list and then check the city on the interactive map. Different coverage is provided by the various operators of that country. Details can be found on the country roaming partner list.
What do I need to do before I travel?
For most pay monthly or prepay customer, your phone is automatically set-up for use abroad. Roaming
service may be automatically deactivated (for example for data-only customers with an Internet Everywhere
residential priceplan). Please contact Customer Care free on 0800 700 700 or +41 78 700 7000 to find out
if you have any restrictions for roaming. In certain cases, you may have to deposit a guarantee.
while abroad
How do I get assistance while I am abroad?
You can contact our Customer Care by calling +41 78 700 7000. Be sure to save this number on your
mobile phone in case you need assistance while abroad. Charges apply when calling this number- same
cost as calling back to Switzerland.
What should I do if I have poor or no coverage?
In case your mobile phone does not have coverage on a specific network, you can select another one
manually. Call costs are the same no matter which network you use in a country, so feel free to change
network to improve your coverage.
Please check your mobile phone's user manual for more details on network selection.
How do I dial to make calls while abroad?
When making calls while abroad, always use the international dialling format.
To make calls back to Switzerland key the prefix [+41] + [area code] + [phone number]. If you are in France and want to call someone in Lausanne, you would dial +41 21 23 45 67 89. Please remember not to include the 0 of our local area codes.
To make a local call (in the country you are) key [+] + [country code] + [area code] + [phone number]. E.g. If you are in France and want to call someone in Paris, you would dial +33 1 23 45 67 89.
To make international calls from abroad key [+] + [country code] + [area code] + [phone number]. E.g. If you are in France and want to call someone in London, you would dial +44 207 23 45 67 89.
You will receive all the calls to your mobile phone in a usual way. Please note that in some cases, the number of the caller may not appear on the phone display.

Activate 'Call divert' to Orange Box for all calls

mobile phone. When a new message arrives in your Orange Box you will receive an SMS. You can then
call back if you wish.

You will still receive missed call alerts via SMS.
Reminder
Remember to re-activate 'Call divert' to Orange Box when you return to Switzerland.
What else should I look out for to save costs?
Your mobile phone may be configured in such a way that it will keep trying to send or receive
the MMS until successfully delivered. Therefore, please be aware that your mobile phone will automatically
initiate calls to complete the delivery and each call will be charged as an international roaming call.
To save costs, do not forget to disable this feature when you go abroad. Please also note that you can send and receive MMS both over GPRS and normal data (CSD). The cost for sending the MMS is different for each method. For operators supporting GPRS, please refer to the list on the GPRS section or on the country roaming partner list. Do not forget to check the list of operators that do not support GPRS or data (CSD) calls under the MMS section.
