blocking SMS and MMS premium rate services

This service enables you to better control your costs by blocking the purchase of SMS and MMS premium rate services. You can either block adult content only or you can block all premium rate services.

To activate the block, send an SMS with BLOCK ADULT (for adult content) or BLOCK ALL (for all types of content) to the short number 5155 or call our Customer Care on 0800 700 700.

To deactivate the block, just call Customer Care and indicate the password you received upon your Orange subscription (written on the contract).

Please note that adult SMS and MMS premium rate services are blocked by default for customers and known users below 18 years.

Preferred Numbers

With regard to calls to Preferred Numbers on other networks, Orange understands normal usage as a maximum of 1000 minutes/month. Calls that exceed this usage limit will be charged at the standard rate of CHF 0.40/min. Also, calling a Preferred Number from abroad is charged at the standard roaming rate.

You can manage your Preferred Numbers on my account at any time.

foreign networks

Care should be taken in border areas within Switzerland. A stronger signal from a neighbouring country may make your device switch to this network, which means you will be roaming within Switzerland. To avoid any roaming costs when in these areas, temporarily disable roaming or manually select the Swiss Orange network.

Beep Option

Depending on your subscription, calls to Swiss mobile networks other than Orange may not cost the same as a call to an Orange mobile phone. Beep Option allows you to be notified by a double beep tone prior to the dial tone when you are calling any national non-Orange mobile number (even if the number starts with a 078). This service is free of charge.

To activate the option, please go to my account, section my options. Your request will be effective immediately.

abroad

Orange Travel offers

To save costs when using your mobile phone abroad, Orange recommends you subscribe to one of our Travel offers before you leave Switzerland.

Orange Box deactivation

When you travel abroad, calls transferred to your Orange Box will be charged twice. To avoid such charges, deactivate your Orange Box before leaving Switzerland by dialling ##004# and pressing the call key. Once back in Switzerland, reactivate the Orange Box by dialing **004*+4186x# (x stands for your 10-digit mobile phone number 07xxxxxxxx) and pressing the call key.

Alternatively, you can choose from the options below, although some of them will restrict the service range:

  • divert all calls to a Swiss fixed-line number, which incurs only domestic charges. You will no longer be reachable on your mobile phone when abroad. Outgoing calls from abroad are still possible. Remember to reactivate the call diversion to the Orange Box when back in Switzerland
  • deactivate “call divert” to the Orange Box. You are still reachable on your mobile phone when abroad. Depending on the network operator, the number of missed calls is shown. You are also informed by SMS about missed calls and/or new messages in the Orange Box, and can call back if necessary
  • activate “call barring” to limit all incoming calls during the desired period, or diverting to the Orange Box or a different number
  • deactivate data transfer. Some mobile phones are set up in such a way as to suspend data roaming while abroad
